Nikon Z8 45.7MP Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera Body – EXPEED 7, 8K30 and 4K120 Video, 120fps capture mode, 493-Point AF

45.7MP Full-Frame Sensor and EXPEED 7
The Z8 pairs a 45.7-megapixel full-frame (FX-format) CMOS sensor measuring 35.9 x 23.9 mm with the EXPEED 7 image-processing engine. Standard ISO sensitivity covers 64 to 25600, expandable to ISO 32 and ISO 102400 equivalents. Still images can be saved as 14-bit NEF (RAW), JPEG or 10-bit HEIF.

493-Point Autofocus with Subject Detection
The hybrid phase-detection/contrast AF system uses 493 focus points with a detection range of -7 to +19 EV, extending to -9 EV in starlight view. Subject detection covers nine subject types, including people, animals, cars, planes, trains and bikes, and a dedicated airplane mode is available in the AF subject detection menu. 3D-tracking is available for stills, and wide-area AF offers 20 custom pattern options.

Electronic Shutter and Up to 120 fps
The Z8 uses an electronic shutter with shutter sound and a sensor shield, with speeds from 1/32000 to 30 s, extendable to 900 s in mode M. Continuous high-speed shooting runs at approximately 10 to 20 fps at full resolution, and high-speed frame capture offers C30, C60 and C120 modes up to 120 fps. Pre-Release Capture records images from frames captured before and after the shutter release.

8K UHD and 4K UHD 120p Video
Video records internally at 8K UHD (7680 x 4320) up to 30p, 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) up to 120p and Full HD up to 120p, with RAW video at 8256 x 4644 up to 60p. Codecs include N-RAW (12-bit), Apple ProRes RAW HQ (12-bit), Apple ProRes 422 HQ (10-bit), H.265/HEVC and H.264/AVC in NEV, MOV or MP4 files, with N-Log and HDR (HLG) options. Recording runs for up to 125 minutes in 4K UHD 60p or up to 90 minutes in 8K UHD 30p, and in-camera 8K time-lapse videos can be created.

High-Res Zoom and Timecode Sync
High-Res Zoom extends the focal length by up to 2x in 4K UHD (30p/25p/24p) and Full HD in FX format without a loss of resolution, including with prime lenses. Timecode can be synchronized over Bluetooth with UltraSync Blue. Skin Softening is available for both video and stills, and Portrait Impression Balance adjusts the hue and brightness of the subject.

5-Axis Vibration Reduction
The 5-axis image sensor shift VR works together with Synchro VR on compatible lenses for up to 6 stops of stabilization for stills. For video, electronic VR can be activated on top of the in-camera VR to compensate for trapezoidal distortion. A Vibration Reduction lock protects the image sensor structure from shocks.

Real-Live Viewfinder and 4-Axis Tilting Monitor
The 0.5-inch OLED electronic viewfinder has approximately 3690k dots (Quad VGA), 0.8x magnification, 100% frame coverage and a brightness of 3000 cd/m2; dual-stream technology delivers a blackout-free Real-Live Viewfinder during continuous shooting. The 3.2-inch touchscreen LCD tilts vertically and horizontally on four axes and has approximately 2100k dots with a 170-degree viewing angle.

Dual Card Slots and Interfaces
One slot takes CFexpress Type B or XQD cards and the other takes SD, SDHC or SDXC (UHS-II) cards, with overflow, backup and separate RAW/JPEG storage options. Connections include a Type-C SuperSpeed USB data connector, a separate Type-C USB PD power connector, a Type A HDMI output, a 3.5 mm stereo audio input and output, a built-in ten-pin remote terminal and an ISO 518 hot-shoe. Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b/g/n in the Middle East and Africa) and Bluetooth connect to the SnapBridge app.

Construction and Power
The body is dust- and drip-resistant, with sealing at covers such as the battery chamber and shutter release button, and is built to withstand temperatures to -10 C. A sensor shield and dual coating on the image sensor help keep dust off the sensor, and key buttons have backlight illumination. The camera runs on one EN-EL15c rechargeable Li-ion battery (EN-EL15b and EN-EL15a can be used with fewer shots per charge), and the optional MB-N12 power battery pack holds two EN-EL15c batteries for approximately 1.8x more shots. Body dimensions are approximately 144 x 118.5 x 83 mm; weight is approximately 910 g with battery and card, or 820 g body only.
