Full-Frame 7K Sensor
3:2 full-frame CMOS sensor measuring 35.9 x 23.9 mm with approximately 34.20 total megapixels and 32.373 effective megapixels in video mode, using an RGB primary colour Bayer array and the DIGIC DV7 processor. Sensor modes cover Full Frame 3:2, Full Frame, Super 35mm crop and Super 16mm crop. Canon Log 2 gives 1600% dynamic range, stated as 15+ stops in full frame and 16 stops in Super 35mm at ISO 800.

Open Gate 12-bit Cinema RAW Light
Internal recording in Cinema RAW Light (CRM), XF-AVC (MXF), XF-AVC S (MP4) and XF-HEVC S (MP4). 12-bit Cinema RAW Light records Full Frame 3:2 at 6960×4640 and Full Frame at 6960×3672, with HQ reaching 2420 Mbps. XF-AVC offers 4:2:2 10-bit intra-frame up to 1000 Mbps. Photo mode records RAW, C-RAW, Dual Pixel RAW, HEIF and JPEG at up to 6960×4640.

High Frame Rate Recording
Slow and fast motion covers 7K 3:2 RAW up to 30 fps, 7K 17:9 RAW up to 60 fps, 5K RAW in Super 35mm crop up to 60 fps, 2.5K RAW in Super 16mm crop up to 150 fps, 4K recording up to 120 fps and 2K recording up to 180 fps. Interval record, frame record and a 3 second pre-record cache are provided.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF II
Autofocus covers approximately 100% of the frame vertically and horizontally in full area mode, with Small Zone and Flexible Zone options. Continuous AF and One-Shot AF are available, with eye, face, head and body detection. Animal detection covers dogs, cats and birds in video mode, adding horses, motorsports, aircraft and trains in photo mode.

RF Mount with Adapter Support
Canon RF mount with PL mount support via the PL-RF Mount Adapter and EF mount support via the EF-EOS R Mount Adapter. Digital lens correction covers peripheral illumination, chromatic aberration, diffraction, distortion on RF lenses and focus breathing on supported RF lenses. Anamorphic lens support covers x2.0, x1.8, x1.5 and x1.3 ratios.

Monitoring and Professional Tools
3.0 inch LCD touch panel with approximately 1.62 million dots. Monitoring tools include a waveform monitor with Line, Line + Spot, RGB Parade and YPrPb Parade, a six-colour false colour display, SMPTE, EBU and ARIB colour bars, two peaking modes, zebra and selectable markers. Custom LUTs can be applied to internal recordings through the Look File function using 17 or 33 grid .cube files. There is no built-in viewfinder.

Connectivity
One HDMI Type-A output, one USB-C data terminal (USB 3.2 Gen2), two XLR 3-pin audio inputs on the handle unit, one 3.5 mm stereo mini jack input, one 3.5 mm headphone output, time code in and out on DIN 1.0/2.3 and an E3 2.5 mm remote jack. Built-in Wi-Fi covers 2.4 and 5 GHz bands on 802.11a/b/g/n/ac. IP streaming runs at 9 Mbps or 4 Mbps at 1920×1080 over UDP, RTP, SRT, RTP+FEC or RTSP+RTP. There is no SDI output, genlock or built-in Ethernet terminal.

Recording Media and Power
One CFexpress 2.0 Type-B slot and one SD / SDHC / SDXC slot, with relay recording, double slot simultaneous recording and simultaneous recording in multiple formats. Recording above 600 Mbps is available on CFexpress only. Power comes from the supplied LP-E6P battery pack, with the LP-E6NH as an option, and mains operation through the DR-E6P or DR-E6C DC coupler or the PD-E2 USB-C power adapter.

Body
Main body measures approximately 142 x 88 x 95 mm and weighs approximately 670 g. The supplied handle unit adds approximately 300 g. Operating temperature is approximately 0 to 40 degrees C at 85% relative humidity, or approximately -5 to 45 degrees C at 60% relative humidity. Two tally lamps sit on the body and one on the top handle, with 14 assignable buttons and three custom dials.
