Unlike the original RF 70-200mm f/2.8, the Z model maintains a fixed physical length of 199mm throughout the zoom range. The internal zoom design improves balance for gimbals, prevents air and dust intake, and enables full compatibility with RF Extenders across the entire focal range.

RF Extender 1.4x and 2x Compatible
Fully compatible with the Canon RF Extender 1.4x (extends to 98-280mm at f/4) and RF Extender 2x (extends to 140-400mm at f/5.6) across the entire zoom range, expanding reach without changing lenses.

5.5-Stop Optical Image Stabilizer
Built-in Optical Image Stabilizer provides up to 5.5 stops of shake correction (CIPA), extending to a maximum of 7.5 stops with Coordinated Control IS on compatible IBIS bodies such as the EOS R1.
