Overview
The Fujifilm X-M5 is a compact APS-C mirrorless camera built around a 26.1 million pixel X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor measuring 23.5 x 15.6mm, paired with the X-Processor 5. It takes the Fujifilm X mount. The sensor is a 23.5 x 15.6mm APS-C X-Trans CMOS 4 with a primary colour filter and 26.1 million effective pixels, cleaned by ultrasonic vibration. Stills record at up to 6240 x 4160 in 3:2. File formats are JPEG to Exif 2.32, HEIF 4:2:2 10-bit, 14-bit RAW in RAF and TIFF in 8-bit or 16-bit RGB by in-camera conversion.

Sensitivity and exposure
Standard sensitivity is ISO 160 to 12800 in 1/3 steps, with extended settings of ISO 80, 100, 125, 25600 and 51200. Metering is TTL 256-zone with multi, spot, average and centre-weighted. Exposure compensation is -5.0 to +5.0EV for stills.

Stabilisation
The X-M5 has no in-body image stabilisation. Digital image stabilisation and IS Mode Boost are available in movie mode only. The supplied XC 15-45mm lens carries optical stabilisation.

Shutter and drive
The mechanical focal plane shutter runs from 30s to 1/4000s, extending to 15 minutes in S and M modes with bulb to 60 minutes. The electronic shutter reaches 1/32000s. Continuous shooting reaches approximately 30fps with the electronic shutter using a 1.25x crop.

Autofocus
Focusing is Intelligent Hybrid AF combining TTL contrast and TTL phase detection, with single point, zone drawn from 117 areas on a 13×9 grid, and all-area selection.

Video
Video records in MOV with HEVC/H.265 or MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 and linear PCM stereo at 24-bit 48kHz, or MP4 with AAC. 6.2K records at 6240 x 4160 in 3:2 up to 29.97p.

Film Simulation
Twenty Film Simulation modes are available, including PROVIA, Velvia, ASTIA, Classic Chrome, REALA ACE, Classic Neg., Nostalgic Neg., ETERNA and the ACROS variants.

Monitor
The rear monitor is a touchscreen with approximately 1.04 million dots in 3:2. There is no electronic viewfinder.

Storage and connectivity
Storage is SD, SDHC and SDXC supporting UHS-I. Wireless is IEEE802.11b/g/n with WPA/WPA2 mixed mode and WPA3, plus Bluetooth 5.2 low energy. Connections are USB Type-C at 10Gbps, HDMI micro Type D, a 3.5mm microphone connector, a 3.5mm headphone connector and a hot shoe.

Power and body
Power is an NP-W126S lithium-ion battery, supplied. Fujifilm states approximately 440 frames in economy mode and approximately 330 in normal mode. The body measures 111.9 x 66.6 x 38.0mm with a minimum depth of 33.5mm, and weighs approximately 355g with battery and card or 307g without. Operating temperature is 0 to +40 degrees C at 10 to 80 percent humidity.
